Printable size & resolution checker

One file, every print size. See how sharp your printable will be at 4×6 through 24×36 and A5 through A1 — and how much a buyer's print shop will crop off — before a buyer finds out the hard way.

Tip: the "DPI" number saved in your file doesn't matter. Only the pixel count does — this checker uses the real pixels.

Every print size

Waiting for a file…

"Crop" is how much of your design gets trimmed when it's printed at that size, because the shape (aspect ratio) doesn't match. Sell one file per ratio family — 2:3, 3:4, 4:5, ISO (A-sizes) and 11×14 — so every size prints without cropping.

Pixels you need for each print size

Use this when you create the file. Width × height in pixels, portrait orientation.

Questions sellers ask

What resolution do I need for an 8×10 printable?

2400 × 3000 pixels for a sharp 300 DPI print. 1600 × 2000 (200 DPI) is fine for most home printers. Below 150 DPI, prints start to look soft or pixelated.

Why do my 5×7 and 8×10 files look cropped?

They're different shapes. 5×7 is a 5:7 ratio and 8×10 is 4:5, so one file can't fill both without trimming something. That's why printable bundles include a separate file for each ratio.

What is Etsy's file size limit?

Up to five files per digital listing, 20MB each. If your files are bigger, save JPGs at high quality (about 90%) instead of PNG, or zip several sizes together — this checker flags files over the limit.

Is my artwork uploaded anywhere?

No. The file is read by your own browser and never sent to a server.
